UTSTILLING I HVALER KUNSTFORENING OLUF FØINUM - GLASS 11. FEB. TIL 10. MARS 2006 ÅPENT I RÅDHUSETS ÅPNINGSTIDER ![]() ![]() ![]()
Utstillingen inneholder ting
til synsglede og lite til bruk. Han prøver her å lage ting

Norwegian Contemporary Glass exhibition holding a glasswork of Oluf Føinum called "Port to the past" Norwegian Contemporary Glass and Ceramics Exhibition in Beijing The Norwegian Embassy and Qinghua University - Academy of Arts and Design will host an exhibition of Norwegian Contemporary Glass and Ceramics 6 - 15 April 2004. 18/11/2004 :: The aim is to present to an international public a number of Norway's most respected and innovative artists, and to further strengthen the links between the art communities in Norway and abroad. Some of the participants in the exhibition are established names, others emerging talents. While keeping abreast of international trends, they all have their own characteristic style, allowing us to perceive clearly the individuality of each artist. Norwegian Contemporary Glass Art - Variety and Renewal For more than 4000 years man has been fascinated by glass. In the furnace, the simple, natural raw materials sand and chalk are transformed into a glowing, malleable mass. Glass is so versatile and its technical possibilities so great that only the glassworker's imagination limits how it can be used and shaped. Norway has been producing glass since 1741. The oldest glassworks in Norway still in existence, Hadeland Glassverk (founded in 1762) has played a dominant role in Norwegian glass manufacture throughout the 20th century. The period since 1950, when a number of prominent designers joined the company and art glass production started, has been particularly interesting. The goal was to combine good design with practicality. The late 1970s saw a further development in Norwegian glass, as young artists established their own independent studio workshops. They have contributed to a new approach in Norwegian glass art, and some of the have achieved international recognition. Names of the artists: Ulla-Mari Brantenberg, Maud Gjeruldsen Bugge, Oluf Føinum, Kari Håkonsen, Arne Jon Jutrem, Karen Klim, Ida Pernille Løchen, Cathrine Maske From Friday 7 May to Sunday 23 an unique glass exhibition of works by 8 Norwegian artists will for the first time be shown in Seoul. The exhibtion is shown at Gallery Sklo, which is the only glass gallery in Korea. Tuesday 17 June 2003 ART OF GLASS COMES TO DRILL HALL GALLERY Norway has a long tradition of quality glass production, which has been extended in recent years by innovative young artists who create glass pieces distinguished by their originality, diversity and vitality. In a significant exhibition coup, the ANU Drill Hall Gallery will host the glass work of eight respected and innovative Norwegian artists from Saturday, 28 June. The exhibition, Norwegian Contemporary Glass, will be opened by the Ambassador of Norway, His Excellency Mr Ove Thorsheim, and includes works by Ulla-Mari Brantenberg, Oluf Foinum, Arne Jon Jutrem, Maud Gjeruldsen Bugge, Kari Hakonsen, Karen Klim, Ida Pernille Lochen and Cathrine Maske. Some of the artists work for glass companies, such as Hadeland Glasswerk, and design glass for everyday use, while also enjoying the freedom to create their own pieces. Others have established or joined studio glass workshops, where they work independently. As an art material, glass can be worked in ways that reveal its sensual and plastic properties. In light, the transparency and translucency of glass allows inner forms to be visible, rays manipulated and colour suspended. Norwegian Contemporary Glass continues until Sunday, 13 July.
